Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows you to talk about your problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment.

My key aim when counselling is to assist you in managing any transitions in your life, to help you talk about emotions and thoughts that you may not have expressed before, or address important matters that you have put off, which always seem to return. New perspectives may emerge.

Counselling also helps enable you to manage difficult feelings, without avoiding them or acting them out. This can bring a sense of relief, so you can understand your current situation. Counselling can be about about freeing yourself, moving away from what you don’t want, towards what you do want.

Each session is 50 minutes long.

It will be held weekly, at the same time and place, however this can vary depending on the type of therapy and your personal requirements.

As we are both making a commitment of time and energy to each other in deciding to work together, it is important for you to know what agreements are in place and therefore what to expect. In our initial session, we will discuss your expectations of counselling and I will also discuss my confidentiality, ethics, payment, holidays and cancellation policies with you.
If we then decide to work together, this will ensure we can do so within safe and clear boundaries. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions if you are unsure of anything.

Fees: £40 per counselling session

In the counselling sessions, everything you disclose will remain confidential with some possible exceptions. The only time I might break confidentiality is if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, and inrare cases where required by law.

This will be thoroughly discussed in our first counselling session.

All counsellors and psychotherapists, regardless of experience, need supervision.

Not only do most professional bodies in the UK such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy require supervision, but it is also an ethical imperative

I will discuss with you in our initially assessment what counselling supervision is, why it is needed and what supervision means for confidentiality.
